According to history Shri Vadnagar Tirth dates back to the ancient times. Earlier the town of Vadnagar was known by the names Anandpur or Vrudhhnagar. As per reference the town was earlier very rich and prosperous. Many old wells and forts have been found here. For the first time in 523 of Vikram Samvat Era Pavitra Agam Kalpa Sutra was read before sravakas here. King Kumarpala built a fort around Vadnagar.
